Artisanship in every design

Our collections are driven and inspired by the great traditions surrounding printmaking from across many cultures and centuries. Our founder Kit MIles spent his formative years growing up among the paper mills of hertfordshire, with a printer grandparent and ten years studying the art of the printed textile, you could say its in our DNA.

Each design begins in the old way, with blank sheets of paper and art pencils and an idea. The resulting designs have the trace and skill of a hand trained over decades in the art of line work both big and small, loose and formal perhaps no other tool could emulate well.

Every inch of our designs are crafted by hand and checked by human eye, then exquisitely reproduced at our factories based both in italy and the UK. For us its far far more than just a surface embellishment, each design is rich in story and the provonance of history present in londons best artefacts held in our world class museums. Design is an acts of communication, creating a humane interface between us and the world of things made and nature itself. We believe in building a future filled with beauty, story and continutity that craftsmanship brings.

The Importance of Retaining Hand Skills

Hand craftsmanship has been a mode of communication for thousands of years, evolving alongside each new technological breakthrough. We embrace this evolution, but we also honour the pursuit of excellence that comes from human hands working toward a collective code. There is something special deeply encoded in making things extremely well, built to last. It is also marvellous to witness the joy people experience in creating and also the harmony and sense of home people feel when they arrive in the right place, a place that reflects their values aspirations.
